Join two of Ada'istx/Fairy Creek Blockades central figures in discussing the dynamics of Indigenous leadership and settler “Allyships” during the Blockade. How does Fairy Creek stretch our understandings of settler “solidarity” in environmental movements, and highlight (im)possibilities of/for decolonization?

The talk will begin with a 30-minute discussion of Aysha's undergraduate research project, "Once Upon a Time in Fairy Creek: Resilience and Ruination in the Anthropocene," including relevant background on the Fairy Creek Blockade. We will then be joined (virtually) by Elder Bill and Rainbow Eyes for a 30-minute moderated conversation, followed by 30-minutes of open Q&A. For interested in-person attendees, we will leave the remaining time to reflect on, and personalize, the discussion.

Symbiosis :: Sat, April 1st - Sun, Oct 29th, 2023:: Come learn about the intelligent connection of the plant people and our dear friend the mycelium network. The symbiotic relationships between fungi and boreal realms have co-dependent networks that are essential to the health and vitality of ecosystems. Many interdisciplinary contemporary artists located in British Columbia, across Canada, and internationally including The Dzunuk'wa Society who have produced work that explores these forest ecologies are on display. The Dzunuk’wa Society has brought The Cookie into the art gallery for everyone to connect with the old-growth elders and the devastation from clear-cutting. The film Rematriation directed by by Alexi Liotti and Colm Keating is being played on repeat for you to watch. This film was made during the heart of Ada'itsx/Fairy Creek Blockade. The film features First Nation land defenders, scientists, and activists standing together to protect the Ancient Forests. Take an afternoon and come down to The Art Gallery of Victoria to explore and discover these important plant relationships, the old growth, and the fight to protect it.
